The Marin Country Day School (MCDS) actually wants its students to get dirty! Unfortunately, decades of outdoor play were beginning to erode the natural hillside and creek area adjacent to the Lower School playground called ‘The Hill.‘ Using The Hill restoration project as a catalyst, MCDS took the initiative to reimagine their outdoor play zone. With creative input from students and teachers, MKThink helped the school change the interrelationship between indoor and outdoor play and learning across the entire campus. The result? A series of imaginative, bite-sized summer projects designed to manifest the vision for the role of ‘play’ on campus.
