BENSON MEMORIAL CENTER PLAN

Designing a new physical and cultural heart of campus

Santa Clara requested MKThink investigate how students used the Benson Memorial Center to understand better the school's primary social gathering place. They wanted the Benson Memorial Center to promote community interaction and integration of the entire student body. The scope of MKThink's work with Santa Clara University for the Benson Memorial Center included measurement and analysis of current student use patterns and behaviors and the development of a new space program, functional specifications, and conceptual organization model. MKThink's work also created a Master Plan for Santa Clara University. MKThink's work reinforced the Benson Memorial Center's position as the physical heart of the campus.
