BENSON MEMORIAL CENTER PLAN

Designing a new physical and cultural heart of campus

Santa Clara requested MKThink investigate how students were using the Benson Memorial Center because they wanted to understand how the school’s primary social gathering place was being used. They wanted the Benson Memorial Center to promote community interaction and integration of the entire student body. The scope of MKThink’s work with Santa Clara University for the Benson Memorial Center included measurement and analysis of current student use patterns and behaviors as well as the development of a new space program, functional specifications, and conceptual organization model. MKThink's work also led to the creation of a Master Plan for Santa Clara University. MKThink's work reinforced the Benson Memorial Center's position as the physical heart of the campus.
