Creating the framework for 20 years of campus improvements to align outdated facilities with new pedagogies and its world image
Despite its world class reputation in 2000, Stanford Law School’s campus facilities were outdated, inflexible, and left no room for growth. MKThink updated the Law School’s outdated master plan with the ‘Future Forward Plan’ in 2001. The framework plan called for improvements to align the campus with the educational mission, the shift in pedagogy, and the school’s top-ranking reputation. The Future Forward Plan put the focus on Law School faculty, acknowledging their essential role in advancing the school’s mission. Facilities are characterized by open layouts to convey open-door scholarship and cultivate collaboration among faculty, students, staff, and visiting law professionals.

RESULT:
The Future Forward Plan put the focus on Law School faculty, acknowledging their essential role in advancing the school’s mission. The plan set the stage for ten years of campus development and modernization, including major classroom and library renovations (Crown Quad), a new academic building (Neukum), residential halls, parking, a new library, and outdoor quads and greens.
