Project Description
Mozilla Global Office Design
“Coding” the workspace of a premiere open-source developer.
MKThink translated Mozilla’s values and open-sourced model of product development into a physical workspace design that promotes openness, collaboration, and creativity.
The user-centered approach engaged 200+ Mozillians in the design process. Site observations, surveys, and sensors documented space usage and cataloged key user activities.
MKThink developed design guidelines that culturally “code” and standardize office layouts. Guidelines feature a menu of typologies—from boardrooms to ideation spaces—and flexible layouts, easily implemented and localized to offices worldwide.
Build-outs of the design were completed in the Silicon Valley headquarters and 2 other Bay Area offices. Global rollout was initiated in London, Paris, Berlin, and Toronto.
