In earthquake-prone California, UCSF’s Parnassus Campus faced the critical challenge of bringing 1.9 million square feet of non-compliant space up to seismic safety standards. Partnering with MKThink, UCSF turned this urgent need into an opportunity for transformation. Together, we developed a strategic plan that not only reduces non-compliant space by 48% across the system but also reimagines the campus for the future. Our analysis identified key opportunities to enhance campus life by increasing parking capacity, improving connectivity, and supporting educational expansion. As feasibility studies begin, this plan ensures that UCSF is not only safer but also poised for a resilient and thriving future.
