Last week, the San Francisco Zoo reopened its doors to the public! With100 acres of parkland that includes over 1.5 million square feet ofdedicated visitoropenspace, the Zoo is well equipped to go above and beyondrecommended social distancing guidelines. These unique physical attributes mean the Zoo is safely able to accommodate 1,500 people at a time with 1,000 square foot allocated per person!
MKThink and Roundhouse One have been supporting the Zoo’s innate physical advantages by setting up vigorous monitoring, response and coordination efforts to prepare and respond to emergent situations. The Air Angel Healthy Places initiative aims at creating community confidence in participating in public life by providing key spatial intelligence insights that our partners can adapt to their needs. As part of the San Francisco Zoo pilot, the team successfully launched our unique combination of locally invented technologies and application in time for the Zoo’s public reopening.
Our technology scans social distancing patterns such as people flow and density throughout the day, along with weather and environmental conditions. The technology is, of course, non-invasive and does not require facial recognition, collect personal information or track cell phones. Our team will proactively and progressively apply the data-generated findings to planning and operational recommendations, ultimately providing the Zoo with information to empower decisions for the use of the Zoo that are in everybody’s best health interest!
Stay tuned for more insights and updates from the field!
